Wedding: October 23, 2016

Ceremony & reception: Vista West Ranch, Dripping Springs

Honeymoon: Negril, Jamaica

Desiree Stephens and Sidney DeVillier met at the end of their freshman year in high school. She was quiet and reserved, while he was outgoing and made friends with everyone he met. That summer, Desi moved to Egypt, but even being thousands of miles apart didn’t stop the two from keeping in touch almost daily for the three years she was there—and the friendship soon blossomed into love. After Desiree graduated from college, Sidney surprised her with a proposal at the Oasis on Lake Travis in front of both of their families. For their rustic wedding, a total of 150 guests came in from all over the world. The venue set the tone for the event, as did the cocktails served in mason jars, centerpieces of lanterns and wood, and the Cajun meal. One table was set with photographs of their families’ weddings through the generations. One of Desi’s most memorable moments was dancing with her father to the song “Strong” by Will Hodge, while a slideshow of old photos played. Sidney and his mother also choreographed a dance together, blending several popular songs and creating a dance for each section. For their grand exit, Sidney pushed Desiree out in a wheelbarrow—her family tradition—and the party continued with guests staying the night on-site and relaxing around a bonfire with the newlyweds.
