In April 2014, Lauren Lester went to a hear a band at Hotel Vegas in Austin, where she and the drummer locked eyes. His name was Jose Arturo Silva, though he went by Art; Lauren says that, corny though it sounds, it was love at first sight. They fell for each other’s sense of humor, and Art proposed spontaneously right after finding a perfect ring at an antique store, with a classic car festival and live music in the background. They held a minimalist, elegant wedding with colors and textures inspired by Solange’s “Cranes in the Sky” music video. During the ceremony, Art’s younger brother, serving as officiant, got a case of nerves and accidentally skipped the exchange of rings part, going straight to “You may now kiss the bride.” They gently reminded him, got to kiss again, and laughed about it for the rest of the day.
