The couple wanted their wedding to be as meaningful as possible, so they had friends provide many of the wedding services and kept the event to just 30 guests.
Maya & Noah: Fairy-tale Wedding Day with Nods to the Couple's Favorite Films
Wedding: March 26, 2017
Ceremony & reception: Thistlewood Manor & Gardens, Kyle
Honeymoon: Germany, Austria and Croatia
Maya Carrillo and Noah Lozada met as orientation week co-advisers their sophomore year at Rice University and developed a strong friendship. Maya fell for Noah’s humor, kindness and thoughtfulness; he fell for her selflessness, compassion and the feeling of absolute comfort he felt around her. While on vacation with Noah’s family in Tepoztlan, Mexico, the two hiked up a mountain and looked down from the summit over the valley and town below. What she wasn’t expecting was Noah to get down on one knee and present her with a ring, and she couldn’t hold back her tears at the perfect proposal. The two held an elegant, Disney-themed wedding at Thistlewood Manor & Gardens. The romantic venue was enhanced by handmade centerpieces, greenery draped from the columns to create a fairy-tale feel, and a pane of stained glass depicting a red rose above the altar, a nod to Beauty and the Beast. Both Maya and Noah were walked down the aisle by their parents, and a friend conducted the ceremony, for which they’d written their own Disney-inspired vows. Maya loved the songs Noah chose for the ceremony exit music—the “Captain America March” from Captain America: The First Avenger—and for the reception entrance, “Hooked on a Feeling” by Blue Swede from Guardians of the Galaxy.
